A visit to Miramare Park and Castle is unforgettable. The castle was the princely residence of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Hapsburg (the youngest brother of the Emperor Franz Joseph) and his consort Charlotte.
Maximilian was so enchanted by this place that he choose to build his love-castle here.
The castle even today it maintains all the fascination
of the time, being one of the most luxurious royal residences of the late 19th century with its rich collections of furniture, paintings, ivory and porcelain.
The stretch of water in front of the castle is a Marine Nature Preserve for the protection of flora and fauna, equipped with centres for environmental education and for the sighting and assisting of protected species. There are also scuba diving tours in the thirty hectares of sea.
